But there exist lesser-known but nevertheless incredible destinations that should be on your radar too!
If visiting with family is more what suits your fancy or if travel solo has always been your thing (looking at all my fellow introverts out there) these five underrated spots will make for a memorable trip.
Burlington, Vermont
Burlington is a city in the state of Vermont. It has a population of 3,800 people. I’ve always found Burlington to be one of the most underrated towns in the US, and yes, it’s in America.
Burlington is located on Lake Champlain and offers tourists New England charm with a European feel.
This small city is perfect for those who enjoy nature walks and overlooking scenic landscapes.
The downtown area offers many eclectic shops for tourists to explore while enjoying the downtown cabaret scene.

The Providence, Rhode Island
Providence, Rhode Island, This historic city is located on the east coast of the United States, also known as the Ocean State.
The state is essentially sandwiched between Massachusetts and Connecticut. Providence, Rhode Island is a tourist attraction due to its historical past that includes the Declaration of Independence being signed there in 1776.
It was also inhabited by Roger Williams who became one of the three original religious liberty settlers in America.

Portland has everything that anyone could want when they come looking for their perfect vacation spot culture from different parts of America as well as other countries themselves if you’re feeling adventurous.
Portland is also the food hub of Maine with a high concentration of restaurants.
From Asian fusion to Italian, you will find every kind of cuisine in this city and it’s not just about local fare either – there are cultural influences from all over the world here for your palate pleasures.
You can explore Portland museums or visit some great sites like historic homes, famous bridges.
But be sure to save room at one (or more) delicious restaurant because after walking around town all day even I was hungry enough for two meals.

Minneapolis, Minnesota
It is a city of plenty with an abundance of art, culture, and cuisine. It also has some of the best nightclubs in the country. This is one of the most underrated tourist places in America.
In some parts of the city, old rusty factories are converted into restaurants full of hustle and bustle. In other areas, industrial warehouses have been transformed into shopping centers with trendy shops for all tastes as well as parks and bike trails to explore in your free time.
It’s worth visiting during wintertime because you’ll get a glimpse at how these buildings look snow-covered!

San Antonio, Texas
San Antonio, Texas is one of the most underrated tourist places in America. Going to this destination will not make you regret your decision or feel like you missed something.
It has a lot of outdoor activities and attractions that will leave you with great memories.
The city was founded by Spaniards led by Antonio de Valero at an elevation of 200 feet above sea level.
The city of San Antonio, Texas is a place where families can come to find peace and relaxation.
The slow-paced vibe creates the perfect atmosphere for those who are looking for some time away from their stressful lives. In addition, you will be able to enjoy all that Mexican culture as it’s one of its main attractions!
It is one of the fastest-growing metropolitan areas in the United States and for its stunningly beautiful Historic Missions which were declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2015, San Antonio, Texas ranks among the best places in America.
